Gaming Tests
The one place where the 4670 should easily outpace
the 4550 is in gaming performance. At 320 shaders versus 80
shaders, this really should be a no-brainer. For our testing,
we are going to go with a more gaming appropriate setup.

First up, let's take a quick look at the good ol'
standby, 3DMark06:
3DMark06:

| 3DMark Score: |
7909 |
| SM2.0 Score: |
2708 |
| SM3.0 Score: |
3268 |
| CPU Score |
4744 |
At 7909, the 4670 doubles the score of the 4550.
It's not a groundbreaking score, but a pretty good improvement
considering that the 4670 is about $30 more than the 4550.
3DMark Vantage "Performance":

| 3DMark Score: |
P3559 |
| CPU Score: |
11872 |
| Graphics Score: |
2885 |
For the Performance test, the 4670 runs about
triple the score of the 4550. Not a bad gain for minimal extra
cost.
Next up, we will take a look at a real time gaming
bench.
Crysis:

Benching Crysis on this card was a bit of a
rough experience. Even with settings down to Medium, the
highest playable resolution is 1280x1024 at 2xAA:
| Crysis Medium |
1280x1024, 2xAA |
| Min FPS: |
24.14 |
| Max FPS: |
35.89 |
| Avg FPS: |
31.05 |
Crysis Warhead:
Crysis Warhead actually ran quite a bit better.
The 4670 was able to handle the "Mainstream" settings all the way up
got 1680x1050 at 4xAA and still maintain an average of 33.55 FPS:
| Warhead Mainstream |
1680x1050, 4xAA |
| Min FPS: |
23.15 |
| Max FPS: |
43.15 |
| Avg FPS: |
33.55 |
Far Cry 2:
In order to test the capabilities of the 4670 in a
realistic gaming situation, we used the built-in benchmark in Far
Cry 2. For both runs, we usedall settings at Medium. The
first run was tested at 1280x1024, 0xAA, and the second run used
1680x1050, 4xAA:

At 1280x1024, the 4670 pulled in an average
framerate of 60.84, very playable at these settings.

At 1680x1050, the card has reached its limit for
Far Cry 2. The average framerate at these settings runs 34.44
FPS.
