Albatron FX5700U3
For us overclockers, we
are always trying to find the hottest products that we can get the most of an
overclock. We all try and find the best steppings of CPU's, part numbers on
memory modules, and the best revision of a particular motherboard. This kind of
strategy is probably one of the best tried and true ways of getting real
pleasure out of knowing you can get the best bang for the buck. Sometimes I
think that value is the whole basis for overclocking, but then again I also know
that when overclocking got started, overclockers didn't even attempt to
acknowledge flagship products like we do today, mostly due to the expense
involved. Well, that's all kind of how it is, and how it went, until a small
company called Albatron came along with their TI4200 Turbo series of video
cards. What I assume Albatron's philosophy consisted of was to take the best
binned memory modules, put it together with a well engineered PCB and sell it
for slightly more than a regular Ti4200. What Albatron created with that card
was a lot of respect, not from its attractive overall packaging, but from its
ability to overclock like crazy. Well Albatron hasn't seemed to abandon that
philosophy, and regardless of the fact that the FX series is a bit dated, I'm
here to let you know that this thing just nips at the heels of a 9800 Pro. Lets
dive a little deeper...
