Crucial System Scanner

     The Test System:

Enclosure:   Ultra m998
Motherboard:   Abit IP35 Pro
CPU:   Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
Memory:   4GB (2GBx2) OCZ  Platinum PC2-6400
Hard Disk Storage:   Western Digital Raptor-X
Power Supply:   Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850
Operating System:   Windows Vista 32-bit w/ Service Pack 1

The TechPowerUp GPUZ gives us a pretty detailed look at the video card itself. Unfortunately, it is not reading the actual clock speed of the GPU, Memory, or Shader.  GPUZ is showing us the default clock speeds set by the cards BIOS, which is higher than a standard (reference) 8800GT.

     Testing:

PT Boats: Knights of the Sea

The Russian Developer Akella has created the game PT Boats: Knights of the Sea and with it a Direct X 10 benchmark utility. You can set up parameters such as resolution, image quality, and anti-aliasing. I ran the benchmark on a few different resolutions, but all using HIGH image quality and 2x anti-aliasing.

As expected, frame rates drop as we increase resolution, however at 1680x1050 and 1600x1200 there is a huge hit in performance as compared to 1920x1200. This is surely the result of the graphics card driver or more likely the games engine coding and not the silicone on the card itself.
