AVerMedia AVerTV USB MCE
External TV Tuner
A few months ago I decided to use a small form factor computer I had
laying around as a Media Center PC. Since I was using a fairly
dated SSF, I had two video options. I could use the on-board video
or use a PCI video card. For those of you that read through that
quickly and really wasn't paying attention, that's a PCI card not a PCI-E
card. I was using an old GF4 card in there and really didn't want
to spend the money on another PCI card to get the TV capability. I
decided that it wasn't worth spending the money to get a TV tuner card
for this machine so I left it as is. But, do you know what windows
media center edition is without the TV capability? It's just
windows XP with the Royale theme. So I was pretty happy when the
opportunity came along to review a USB TV Tuner. I had been
debating on whether to scrap this SFF and purchase one with at least an
AGP slot. We'll see if this AVerTV Device can resurrect my old media
PC.

Packaging and
Contents

This is a white box
package and what that means is no software. The software
that is meant for us to use is integrated into Windows Media
Center Edition so we should be fine.

The packaging is
pretty basic but effective. The box has egg carton foam on
top and bottom and the components are sandwiched in between.
