     And we're done...

A leak check is a very important step in the installation process. For obvious reasons, the best place to do this is outside the enclosure. As you can see in the above picture, only the water block has any real chance of creating a problem. Not that I don't trust the crimping that Swiftech put on the tubing, but a slight imperfection in the tubing is all it would take to turn the PC into a huge paperweight. Powering the pump is no problem, I just use the power supply installed in the PC. Unhook all the power connectors except the Molex connector and attach a power supply tester to the 24 pin ATX connector. This should be enough to get the powers supply to power-up and give power to the pump. Since the pump is not self-priming it will be up to the user to get water to the pump first. Which is why the pump is installed below the reservoir in my demonstration.

     Testing

 CPU  AMD Athlon 3200+
" Newcastle "
Motherboard Asus K8N-E Deluxe
Memory OCZ EB 3500+
Enclosure Cooler Master CM Stacker

The Newcastle CPU mounted on the Asus K8N-E Deluxe is the 3200+ model with a stock core speed of 2.2GHz. Of course, we at Club Overclocker rarely run anything at default clock speeds and for the testing portion of this test I don't see a need to go there either. So, we're going to give the Swiftech a chance to cool this system at its highest stable overclock. The first thing that happened is that the maximum stable overclock increased to 2520 MHz. -- 240Mhz FSB x 10.5 Multiplier. The system maintained 100% Prime stability at this clock speed with a vCORE voltage of only 1.575 volts!

 CPU Load %  Temp °C / °F
 IDLE

30°C / 86°F

MAX 100%

41°C / 105°F

Room temperature for the duration of the test was recorded at 72.5 *F.

The above screen shot is a cut-out from Asus Probe with the CPU Temperature polling interval set to 1 second. This shows the temperature ramp-up during 100% CPU usage over a span of 2 minutes from far left edge to far right edge. So, after 1 minute the CPU temperature only reached 36°C / 96°F.

Here we have a screen shot of the last 60 minutes of the torture test. The polling interval was increased to 15 seconds to help emphasize time duration.

     An Outstanding Success!

Compared to a traditional fan-cooled heatsink, the Swiftech H20-120 water cooling kit is certainly more expensive and requires more preparation and installation time. However, the benefits are exponential. Lower temperatures while yielding a higher Overclock.....

Here we can see a temperature comparison done with the same CPU, only the CPU isn't clocked as high or hit with as much voltage. So the air cooing heatsink has a bit of advantage in this test - but of course the water cooler still comes out more effective. The new pump that Swiftech has bundled in the kit is very quiet, energy efficient and still quite capable of keeping a high volume of water through the block and radiator. I  purposely used an excessive amount of tubing in the setup of this unit to make future maintenance on the system easier, and to force a bit more of a load on the pump. Under these circumstances, I would have no reservations about recommending this pump to drive a system built with a chipset cooler and video cooler in the loop as well.

The quality of this product is top-notch, which is something that I have come to expect from Swiftech. Everything that was required to assemble and install the unit was packaged in the box. The printed and provided instructions cover each step of installation very clearly which could get even the first time builder through the project was ease. Once again, a solid product with outstanding performance! Easily recommended for any Overclocker's computer!
