The UCP-700 has a unique look.  The outside surface is coated in a textured grainy grey coating that reminds me of the powder coating on outdoor play equipment. This coating is accented on both sides by the Ultimate logo shown here.  In a bit of brilliance, the logo is oriented on each side to show up right side up in your build.  No matter if you have a traditional ATX install or a reversed BTX style mounting, your UCP-700 will look like a champ!

The seven blade 120mm fan is flush mounted behind a black honeycomb mesh by a set of four hex nuts.   I took a measure of the fan noise using my SLM (Sound Level Monitor). The UCP-700 measured 61 dB at about three feet.  For comparison, my Antec 1000W clocked in at 58dB.

The same black mesh is used across the back.  Following the trends of most premium power supplies with active PFC, the UCp-700 has only a single power indicator light and a power switch to complement the cable socket.  The result is a cleaner look and more airflow.  The switch is further assisted by a Soft-start circuit for additional protection during power up.

12v switchcaps

A quick look at the insides via these pictures from the Cooler Master site shows the quality of the construction.  The picture on the left shows the single 12V switching circuit flanked by two of the three heatsinks.  To the right of this circuit and in the second picture you can see the premium Japanese made capacitors used to increase dependability and extend the life of the UCP-700 beyond the competition using caps of lower quality.

The top side of the UCP-700 is dominated by this sticker.  The rails are prominently displayed along with the usual industry certifications.  Cooler Master earns high marks for limiting their stickering to one nice looking label and placing the labeling on the hidden side for most installations.  I hate taking the time to install a nice looking power supply in a windowed case only to have every label marring the finish.

Cooler Master ships the UCP-700 with the standard mounting screws and power cable.  Bit in addition the packaging includes: A User's manual on CD, A large install guide in a dozen languages that includes a full pin-out guide, and a wallet size warranty card.  this is the first time I have seen the warranty done like this and I like it.  No more keeping mounds of warrant paperwork, just toss the card into the desk drawer and you are covered.
