Just recently Ultra Components and Technologies unveiled their new 325w auxiliary power supply called the "Power Partner". The Power Partner is similar to a redundant power supply, however the Power Partner does not supply power to the main board and does not mount in the computer case like a conventional power supply. Instead the Power Partner installs in a 5.25" drive bay just like an optical drive. The Power Partner is designed to be turned off and on by the main ATX power supply and powers devices like hard drives, PCI-E video cards, optical drives, and so on. Ultra has a great idea here and a simple solution to provide extra power for those who don't want to drop a ton of money on a high end gaming power supply to replace their inadequate OEM PSU. Let's take a closer look at the Power Partner to see if it's a wise choice for those in need of extra power or just another white elephant taking up space in your tower.
