     Now that we have the top removed from the Disk Station, we can go ahead and install the hard drives. Physically attaching the hard drives is as easy as mounting them into a PC.

     Since they are SATA hard drives, each drive will require its own data port. Synology also decided to give each drive its own power port too, rather than daisy chain them together.  

     Once the drives are mounted,  you're pretty much all done inside. The manual makes no mention of advanced settings that can be configured with the jumper block we can see on the far left side of the PCB, so at this point we just put the top back on the unit, and proceed to the next step.
