As a computer enthusiast, we naturally want to share our hobby with
others. Whether it's helping someone build their new rig or (more
commonly) helping someone fix their PC. Either way, chances are
you've seem a very wide variety of layouts. You know, the way the
whole PC system is arranged. It's just common sense that the way the
person uses their PC usually dictates how they have it setup. Or,
maybe they just don't put any thought into it at all. While some
folks (like me) prefer a more traditional desk, other people might
just have their hardware on milk crates. Don't laugh - I've seen it.

The transition from CRT to LCD
monitors has made leaps and bounds for PC users. A bulky 20" CRT
could take up more than half of a traditional desk and weight enough
to crack all but the most sturdy of table tops. Now, with LCD
displays, the much smaller back shells give us a lot of or desk
space back and they weigh far less than a CRT of even half their
size. Even with a Dell 3007FPW 30" monitor, having space on the desk
isn't much of an issue.
With the rush of High
Definition (HD) flat panel television sales, folks are aware of the
ability to hang their television on the wall with what is known as a
Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) mount.
The VESA system is the accepted term which came from the
Flat Display Mounting Interface (FDMI) standard. It simply
defines the standards, as set by the Video Electronics
Standards Association, regarding flat panel mounts and bases.

This same system is used with
dedicated PC monitors. While not all manufacturers elect to use it,
most high-end panels will feature a VESA mount. The VESA mount gives
users the freedom to choose the way they want to use and view their
display. The Dell 3007FPW is among the thousands of monitors
available that utilize the VESA mounts.
When shopping for a monitor,
you should notice that manufacturers include the type and range of
motion options available with the base on the monitor. VESA mounts
are marketed much in the same way.
