Testing
Continued

Now we ramp the ratio setting up to 3:4 (bus speed divided by 3 times 4)

SiSoft Sandra Memory Bench (higher score is better)
3:4 - 200/266/533MHz

3:4 - 250/333/666MHz

3:4 - 253/337/675MHz

The 3:4 setting is where the performance is at with this motherboard. Still, it lags behind other brands with slower memory timings. As a comparison, here are a couple similar tests with our PQI memory.

PQI
3:4 - 200/266/533MHz

PQI
3:4
- 250/333/666MHz

Overclocking

With this particular DDR2, overclocking is pretty much nonexistent. Using the ratio of 3:4, I was able to get the RAM as high as 693MHz, but it was very unstable at anything over 666MHz.

Conclusion

Although the AmpX failed to out perform other brands of DDR2 that we've previously tested, I am glad to see another company in the memory game. Competition is good since it drives prices down. Memory kits like this can go for more than $400, so need all the competition we can get! If you're looking for a real bargain, then look no further. The kit we tested is selling on the web for as little as $278.30 as of the date of this review. Now that's a great price, even if the memory tested a little slow!
