Features

PDP has broken new ground with their memory by allowing to cover a variety of speeds. From 400Mhz to 533Mhz, the XBL has been tested to run at or above your intended application. I see this as a big plus for PDP, since they are basically certifying memory for a wide spectrum of speed, and not just focusing on one particular application. By using good PCB design, and a careful selection of modules, this is very possible, and if executed correctly can be devastating to the competition. The good thing is that we consumers benefit from this type of circumstance, since you won't have to carefully select a stick of memory for a specified speed, you just grab some Patriot XBL and you're covered!

The XBL packaging is a lot like some of the other manufacturers we have grown to love. A basic package, although missing those important memory installation guides...

I really liked the red heat spreaders. Although made from aluminum, they seem to do the job just fine.

Were you expecting something else? I'm pretty sure that TCCD is what every good memory manufacturer is using now. Its the PCB design that will determine who wins or not. The red PCB is also a nice trick for those of us with a esthetic conscious towards our custom case. UV would be even better...maybe next time :)
