Today in the underground bunker of ClubOC headquarters we have another interesting product in from OCZ Technology. This time OCZ is concentrating on supporting the AM2 and Conroe based systems. Today we will be looking at the Intel side of the house and taking this DDR--2 for a spin with the Intel C2D E6600 processor. The E6600 does have some headroom for overclocking, but we want to find out how the 100% hand tested OCZ PC2-8800 Gold Edition XTC will handle at max speed and beyond. With an ASUS P5WDH Deluxe in hand, let's pop in the 1100MHz rated PC2-8800 and go for a test drive!

Notes

  • *XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders optimize the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.
  • **OCZ EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) is a feature that allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM of 2.4V ± 5% without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.
