Conclusion

Doubling the amount of RAM in my system has proven to be a sound decision. Although office applications are no faster than before, my gaming experience has changed for the better. There is a noticeable difference in smooth game play with newer games, especially Battlefield 2. The lag I was experiencing has all but disappeared. When I say "all but disappeared" there is still some random lag in on line game play, but I've now blamed the remaining lag issue on the hosting server. I guess you can't have everything...

As far as overclocking goes, I was taken by total surprise. With such tight memory timings, I didn't think this memory could be overclocked at all. I was completely wrong! With the memory timings still at 3-3-3-8, I was still able to overclock the CPU as high as 3.9GHz and the memory to 587MHz DDR over the default of 533MHz. This was a very welcome surprise. I guess that's why OCZ call this their Gold Edition memory! The only problem I see with overclocking is the mixed results it has when it comes to game benchmarks. As you can see above, Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 had a slight performance increase while the 3DMark scores dropped off when I really pushed the memory hard. Regardless, OCZ has done it once again as they continue their tradition of providing some of the fastest and most stable memory around. ClubOC Recommended!
