TESTING &
Overclocking
The test rig is as follows:
| Motherboard |
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe |
| CPU |
P4 2.4C |
| Video |
ATI Radeon 9800Pro |
| Memory |
1GB PC3200EL Platinum Edition Rev. 2 |
| Power Supply |
ePower Tech Jaguar True450 |
| Storage |
2x200GB Seagates in RAID 0 |
| Optical 1 |
Lite-on 8x DVD+/-RW DL |
| Optical 2 |
Lite-on 52x24x52x CD-RW |
| Case |
ThermalTake Lanfire |
You may be thinking that a 2.4C is a little weak in
a test rig. The reason it was chosen was simply for the high FSB speeds.
This P4 2.4C can run at 300MHz FSB at default voltage. We know that the
CPU will not keep the memory from reaching it's potential. Overclocking
this dual channel kit was very exciting. I was able to get 280MHz 3-4-4-8,
but after 30minutes of playing Doom 3, the game crashed to desktop. I
backed it down to 275MHz 3-4-4-8 and achieved 100% stability.
Let's start out with some game benchmarks. The
settings were as follows. Doom 3 was set to 1024x768 at Ultra high
settings FSAA was disabled. Tomb Raider AOD was set at 1024x768 highest
settings. Halo was set at 1024x768, highest settings with pixel shader 2.0
forced. Unreal Tournement 2004 was set at 1024x768, highest settings.

Conclusion
Overall, I am extremely impressed with this memory.
This is easily the best memory that I have ever personally tested. PC3200
memory that can achieve 275MHz 1:1 is outstanding. Obviously, I can't
guarantee you the same results, but 250MHz is almost guaranteed thanks to the
Samsung chips used. This OCZ PC3200EL Platinum Edition Rev 2 spanks every
other PC3200 memory that has come across my desk. There is only one word
to describe it, "Wow".
