Features

The top of the pad is
like a counter top, (with lack of better words), light like plastic and durable
like steel. The surface is very smooth and solid providing an excellent
surface for the mouse. I applied a small amount of glass cleaner to a
soft fabric and it shined right up. Their guarantee for your mouse not
ever sliding off the pad is backed up by this giant. Although it does
collect sweat at an increased rate, it is sure a heck of a lot easier to clean
than your standard mouse pad.

I immediately assumed that the
underside of this pad would slide all over the place when things got intense.
I think you can probably see the shine from the material on the opposite side.
Look real closely at it and you will notice it has a texture which isvery soft to prevent injury. It is sticky
like flypaper and does not move much even with intentional force on most
surfaces.

The Steelpad is 2 mm (1/12") thin.

Here is another of the pleasant surprises. These
padsurfers introduce an improved glide on the Steelpad's surface, much better of
a glide if you have a mouse that still uses a ball. Two sets of five are
including with the Steelpad.

This is probably my most favorite accessory with an item in a
long time. The case introduces another level of convenience not previously
known by myself. Notice the zipper pocket on the case, it's about just the
right size for carrying CDs or pens.

As you can see the inside of the case provided is very easy on
the pad when carried. It is like a nylon material that will not scratch up
your beautiful case and is less likely to collect dust or other debris and leave
them loitering on the pad.
Conclusion
A mouse pad is a very simple thing that is not often
considered as an important part of computing. I get the impression after
reviewing the Steelpad that Steel is trying to change this idea. After
using the S&S pad it's almost like the difference between broadband and dial-up
when I think about going back to my old mouse pad. I know for sure that I
will definitely be doing my gaming with this pad from now on. They did not
try for any flare when they designed the pad and have managed to design a
gorgeous mouse pad. It's the difference between a Honda and a BMW. Rating this mouse pad is not too tough. The only con I
saw during this review was how the top of the pad had smears on the top after
two hours of gaming. The con is really offset by the advantage of the easy
cleaning my old mouse pad could not give me. Overall I would have to rate
the Steelpad at a 9 out of 10 simply because of the higher price tag. I
must say that if you want a perfect mouse pad this is the one for you. You
will be glad you spent the money on the well designed and thought out Steelpad.
