Seagate Momentus 7200 750GB SATA Notebook Hard Drive

It's hard to start talking about a platter based drive without making mention of a Solid-State Drive at this point. Everybody in the market for a new hard drive will at least take a quick peek at SSD prices and start contemplating.... "Just how much space do i need" or "should I get a small SSD for my boot drive and use a platter drive for my apps and data". Only you can tell how much space you really need, but Seagate is doing everything they can to give you as much space as you want.

One of Seagates most recent 2.5" hard drives is The Momentus Laptop 7200RPM Hard Drive. The key technology at the heart of this drive is the utilzation of 4K sector sizes. While the transition to a 4,096 byte sector is not new, its deployment is becoming more routine as most modern operating system have all of the tools built-in to ensure allingment issues are null and void. So while most of the community has embraced Winodws 7 and the newer flavors of Mac OS X and Linux, some folks who refuse to lay down their latency operating systems (Windows XP) may run into performance issues. Network appliances such as media servers and other network attached storage devices can usually have their allignment issues resolved by a firmware update. As always, check with your manufacturers hardware compatibility list before integrating any new hardware.
