Just
this week, Kingwin unleashed their latest line of hard drive
enclosures. This time around, Kingwin is releasing a product
that promises to look sleeker than the previous generations.
With added eSATA support, there is no longer any excuse to live with
the slower speeds that exist on the majority of USB 2.0 enclosures
out there. So, let's take a gander at what the new Z-1 has to
offer us...
Out of Box Experience:

The Z-1 is attractively packaged, and allows the
buyer a chance to get a direct view of exactly what they are about
to purchase.

The back of the package shows the basic
information that you would expect. It details out the
Features, Specifications, and the package contents. It also
shows that there are three colors available, red, blue and black.
Today's sample is the blue.

The contents of the package includes everything
you will need to install, assemble, and operate the enclosure.
From left to right, we have the power cable, an eSATA cable, a
stand, USB 2.0 cable, screwdriver, pack of screws, the enclosure,
driver disk, and manual.

First Impressions:

The first look of the Kingwin Z1 enclosure shows
us a nice shiny blue finish, with a holographic Kingwin label.
The construction of the chassis is rigid aluminum. The smooth sleek lines have a lot of appeal, especially for a device
that is likely to sit on your desk.

The end pieces of the enclosure are made from
plastic, but made to look like chrome. From the picture, you
can see the highly polished surface is mirror-like in quality.
The stand also consists of the same polished chrome look. On
the front, the Z1 brand is cut from the plastic and is backlit by a
blue LED.

The rear of the device provides us with all the
functions of the Z1 enclosure. From top to bottom, we
have the USB 2.0 port, eSATA port, on/off rocker switch, and a
six pin power plug.
