AMD Socket AM3: X2 550 Black Edition Review 3DMark CPU Tests For a closer look at CPU gaming performance, we are going to specifically look at the CPU testing portion of 3DMark06 and 3DMark Vantage. Higher scores are better in both tests.
In 3DMark06, the E8400 beats out the X2 550 BE by 10.8%. However, the overclocked X2 gets within striking distance of the X3 720.
The Vantage test tends to favor the Intel chips a little bit more, and thus the E8400 beats the stock X2 by 16.2%. Of course, on the other hand, the E8400 cannot be unlocked to a quad core either.
