On the inside...

Another impressive feature of the Twelve Hundred is that it is totally black, including the inside. Many years ago when we were modifying our own computer cases I had tried blacking out the interior of several of my cases. Unfortunately the hobby paint scratched easy, but factory baked on paint is a completely different story. Antec has done an incredible job here. The inside of the case is quite huge allowing for easy fit and access for the largest motherboards and video cards.

Above is a view of the pair of 120mm cooling fans located in the back of the case. At the top you can see how both of these fans, as well as the 200mm blow hole fan, is wired to the selector switch box in the back of the case.

Here is a view of the bottom 3 hard drive bays. Each bay is removable and holds a total of 3 hard drives each for a grand total of 9 drives! This is most certainly overkill for most users, but it's better to have too many than not enough.

Each of the 3 drive bays are removable with 2 thumb screws located at each side of the bay. The bays then slide out towards the front of the case for easy access and cleaning.

Each of the 3 bays have a built in filter that slides out for quick and easy cleaning. You have got to love Antec's design! It just doesn't get better than this...

As a final touch, Antec has included several accessories including a universal mounting platform for items such as a water pump or water tank. Of course you have to drill your own holes in the platform, but I'm really happy to see Antec thinking ahead. There is also a floppy or zip drive adapter for those who still have a need for this type of media.

Conclusion

I'm not that fond of plastic when used in computer cases, but Antec was careful to only use it where it was needed. However, the top portion of the case is nearly all plastic and it does take away from that heavy duty Antec quality I've come to love. Then again you have to look at the plastic top as part of the case design as metal would be nearly impossible to use due to cost. As for the remainder of the case, I was thoroughly impressed. I love Antec's use of a 200mm cooling fan plus the additional five 120mm fans plus the option to add one more on the access panel. The 100% use of LED fans was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The removable and filtered drive bays was another great feature I really love about the Twelve Hundred. Antec's forward thinking design features such as water cooling ready with the hose grommets and water cooling platform was a highly appreciated bonus that water cooling enthusiasts will die for. Overall I really love the Antec Twelve Hundred and I plan to build my next PC using this very same case. Club Overclocker recommended!
