The location does place the motherboard a long way away from the power supply.  With my VIA reference board installed with a standard RaidMax PS the ATX plug just barely fit.  The hard drives mount with the plugs away from the window providing a cleaner overall look when closed up.

The most interesting feature of the Spiral Galaxies case is the wind tunnel design created by the plastic tube across the bottom of the case.  The two 120mm fans move a tremendous amount of air across the CPU and RAM.  With an optional breakout to support a dual processor motherboard provided; this tunnel is an Overclocker's dream come true.

Even the windows receive the deluxe treatment with an EMI preventing “Bee Hive” honeycomb pattern stylishly added for additional protection.

The USB and fire wire plugs are routed to the top of the case for ease of access.  The Audio outputs are found in the center of the front just below the door.

Features:

  • TWO 120MM FAN AIR TUNNEL DESIGN
  • “BEE HIVE” SIDE PANEL FOR EMI PROTECTION
  • KEY LOCK
  • FRONT MIC AND HEADPHONE, 2X USB2.0 AND IEEE1394 FIRE WIRE CONNECTORS
  • TOOL LESS PUSH-AND-CLICK FAN INSTALLATION
  • REAR HDD MOUNTING FOR QUICK HOT AIR DISSIPATION
  • PSU SHOCK ABSORBERS FOR QUIETER OPERATION
  • TOOL LESS PUSH-AND-CLICK EXPANSION SLOTS

Specifications:

  • MODEL SPIRAL GALAXIES
  • CASE TYPE MID/FULL TOWER FULL STEEL CHASSIS CASE
  • DIMENSION 540MM (H) X 205MM (W) X 488MM (D)
  • COOLING SYSTEM; FRONT & REAR 1 X 120 MM FAN
OPTIONAL  PUSH IN 80MM FRONT FAN
  • DRIVE BAY - FRONT ACCESSIBLE 5 X 5.25", 2 X 3.5" / INTERNAL 6 X 3.5"
  • SCREW LESS RAIL DESIGN
  • MATERIAL SECC 0.8MM / FRONT PANEL ABS, ALUMINUM
  • SUPPORT MOTHERBOARD MOTHERBOARDS: ATX, MICRO-ATX, EXTENDED ATX

Pros:

  • Solid, well thought out construction
  • 120mm cooling wind tunnel
  • Tool less installation
  • EMI Protection
  • PSU shock absorbers

Cons:

  • Weight
  • Distance from power supply on some motherboards
  • Single color choice

Conclusion

I wasn’t able to find an official weight for this case on the web but trust me; it is not something you want to lug around with you.  It is a nice complement to AeroCool that I have to really think to come up with any other cons.  The look of the Spiral galaxies is clean and refined with no gaudy additives.  The construction is absolutely flawless and well thought out.  The larger size chassis leaves plenty of room for mods and water-cooling, though you probably don’t need them. Tired of sub-par cases disguised behind showy looks, this is the case for you.

This case hits the books at about $100 everywhere. (Best price $85 www.newegg.com)
