door

Here you can see the drive bays are hidden behind a right hinged door.  The full size of the Zero 2 allows for 5 x 5.25" external bays and 2 x 3.25" external bays.  The door is held firmly in place by a set of magnets and I never found things flopping open like so many other hinged door setups.

Ports

The external ports can be found along the top of the Zero 2.  Ports include 2 x USB 2.0, a set of HD compatible multimedia ports and a single eSATA port.  The top of the case also shows the signature NZXT plate and a 80 mm fan vent for the optional top exhaust fan.  Bonus points for the eSATA port!

  Inside

With the door off we get our first look at the inside layout.  As you can see here, the interior of the Zero 2 is not taking any chances.  The drive bays sit in a standard pattern across the front and every edge has been nicely rounded.  Still there are some notable exceptions.

Door

Lets take a closer look at the fan setup on that door.  As you can see here the entire grill assembly must be removed to install any of the 120 mm optional fans.  It is pretty easy to visualize a set of brightly lit matching LED fans spinning to life for some massively overclocked air project.  Without the fans the grill functions much like a typical window mod.

inside

Looking at the inside of the case you can see the two 120 mm exhaust fans can be powered off a 3 pin fan control or using the 12 V pass throughs.  The PCI slots do not come with thumbscrews and must be accessed through the holes you see along the top edge of the case.  In an odd twist, my bit drivers would not fit through the holes and my favorite screwdriver set was too short to reach the screws forcing me to track down a new screwdriver during the card install.

inside front

Looking towards the front provides a good look at the steel construction and air flow over the 6 x 3.5" bays.  The final 120 mm fan takes air in from the front grill and passes it across the drive bays to help keep your drives cool.  I would like to see a bit more open design behind this fan as the amount of airflow will be restricted by the drives and the size  and spacing of the holes.  You can also see another optional 80 mm mounting in the floor.  This intake vent is protected by a washable mesh filter but could easily house the 9th and final fan location on our Zero 2.  Hope you packed a good fan controller!
