may have just created a piece of software that is far and above one of
the coolest utilities that this reviewer has seen. At first glance
you think to yourself, OH BOY just what the Windows world needed a Task
Manager. Well think again, WinTasks does more than just show you
what processes are running on your computer. WinTasks allows
you to do many of the things that the normal Task Manager included in
Windows does plus more.
Many of the
Windows95, Windows98, and WindowsME folks don't have the ability to
change the priority of the processes that are running in the background.
They have only the ability to terminate the process. Well now they
can do what those of use that use WindowsXP, Windows2000, Windows2003,
or the older WindowsNT folks have been able to do since day one.
Change the processes priority.
For the 1st timers
the priority of a process is what Windows uses to determine how much of
the processors time each process receives. The higher the
priority, the more processor time that process can have. Just a
note to those not in the KNOW. NEVER change your processes to
Real-Time. It has a nasty side effect, it basically gives that
process 100% of the CPU and no other process is given CPU time. Or
in other words, the shell called Explorer which we use to to move our
mouse around on is useless. Time to hit the BRB or Big Red Button
(for those of us that have been around the Reset Buttons on computers
were Big and Red).
