AeroCool i-curve+ Mid-tower review
Today
we are looking at a pretty kewl case from AeroCool.
"The
first thing you notice about someone's computer is their
case. There are thousands of cases out there to chose from,
so getting the right one for you might be more difficult
than you think. The i-curve+ from AeroCool is a sleek,
black case that is very eloquent. It also has some
high-tech buttons and an LCD built into the front to let
everyone know that it's not just another run of the mill
black case. Let's take a look at the i-curve+ to see if
it's the case that you've been looking for."

ASUS EAH3850 X2 1GB Dual GPU Video Card Review
"Recently,
ASUS was among the first companies to put a pair of ATI HD
3850s on a single graphics card, for a more affordable
dual-GPU experience. I reviewed a Radeon HD 3850 (single
GPU) earlier this year, and was very impressed with
it.performance just shy of an 8800GT at $100 less. A pair on
one card should be an awesome experience. Today I will be
looking at the ASUS EAH3850 X2 1GB, twin 3850s with 512MB
each, one of the few on the market. Will it meet my
dual-3850 expectations? How will it compare to the 9800GTX,
nVidia's top of the line single-GPU card? Read on and see!"

OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire-Certified RAM kit
"In our reviews of the Sapphire 780G Motherboard and Hybrid
CrossFire and Sapphire ATI Radeon HD3870 Toxic, I used a 2GB
DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire Certified kit
(OCZ2RPR1066A2GK) provided by OCZ. Although DDR2 prices are
lower than ever, it's still easy to pick out the good brands
from the bad. The 2GB DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire
Certified kit is no exception."

Inno3D iChiLL 9800 GTX Accelero Xtreme review
"Early
last month Nvidia released the GeForce 9800 GTX which today stands
as the fastest single GPU graphics card money can buy. However,
after almost sixty days of its release and with an eventual
appearance of next-generation cards from both ATI and Nvidia, few
manufacturers seem to be making pronounced efforts on modifying or
improving the original Nvidia reference design.
That is until we received the iChiLL 9800 GTX
Accelero Xtreme from Inno3D, which features a mammoth heatsink that
is cooled by no less than three fans."

Asus EN9800GTX 512MB Videocard Review
"Like
many gamers, we anticipated a heated videocard war would take place
this past year between Nvidia and AMD.
But instead of a knock-down, drag out fight between
two heavyweight contenders, we instead witnessed Nvidia dancing
around the ring with its 8800 series GPUs while the company formerly
known as ATI nary made an attempt at the performance crown.
In recent months AMD has finally responded with its
HD 3870, and while it still doesn't manage to regain the lead, it
did prompt Nvidia to release a new series in its lineup, the 9x00.
Or did it?"

OCZ EliteXstream 800w Power Supply
Our
very own Joe takes a look at this nice power supply from OCZ.
"Almost exactly one year ago, OCZ
shocked the overclocking community by purchasing PC Power & Cooling.
Ever since, the enthusiast community has waited with bated breath to
see the children from this fated marriage. Well, cradled in my
arms, I now hold one of the dear children. Now, when we looked
at the PC Power & Cooling
Silencer 610,
we concluded that it was a great power supply; however there were
some interesting design philosophies that I felt were holding back
the company. It will now be interesting to see how these
design philosophies seep their way into the OCZ-branded product."

XFX 9800GTX Black Edition Review
"The
bundle and support are very well with the XFX Black Edition
GeForce 9800GTX, it comes with COD4, which is one of the
hottest PC gaming titles available at this moment and costs
around $49.95 at most e-tailors or retailers making the card
a more attractive buy. Support and warranty options are well
taken care of BY XFX as they take very good care of their
customers in the after purchase environment and quick RMA
return times. Overall this card is a solid piece of
equipment that excels in the 1920X1200 and below resolutions
with moderate AA and AF settings. In the 1680 and 1280
resolutions you can turn up the AA and AF settings to their
maximum values and get great FPS gameplay. Not quite an
Editor's Choice, but definitely a Hot Product award winner."

AMD Phenom X3: One too
little or one too much?
When I first read the title I thought it said, "Too little, Too late."
"The AMD Phenom X2 was announced quite some time
ago but still hasn't seen the light of day; instead we were greeted
by the X3 Phenom, a new breed of processor, first in the market to
offer a Triplecore solution. This CPU is priced lower than AMD's own
X4 and Intel Core 2 Duo series. In our review today we test the
Phenom X3 8450 and compare it to an AMD X4 and Intel C2D."

NZXT Tempest Case Review
"NZXT has recently
been coming out with some great mid tower cases.
ThinkComputers got the chance to take a look at the new NZXT
Tempest case. This case is probably different than most
other cases you've seen because it has a bottom, rather than
top, mounted PSU. It also includes plenty of features for
overclockers, water coolers, and storage fanatics, while
still displaying a sleek design. NZXT calls this the
"Airflow King" because it includes SIX 120mm and larger
fans. Don't worry, they're probably quieter than the case
you have right now.”
Find out what ThinkComputers has to say about this case.

Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend and please take time to
remember those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for

AMD GAME!
Enables Console-like Simplicity for Mainstream PCs
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- May 19, 2008 --From the company powering
the visual experience of the two most popular gaming consoles in
the world today1, AMD (NYSE: AMD) announces AMD GAME!. This
program is designed to help consumers select perfectly suited
PCs for high-definition gaming. AMD GAME! platforms combine the
powerful balance of multi-core processors, exceptional HD
digital media2, and next-generation graphics processing power.
Industry leaders including Acer, Alienware, Logitech and
Microsoft are joining AMD to ensure consumers can easily
identify PCs that deliver HD gaming and entertainment
experiences out of the box.
“With the support of industry leaders in PC
gaming, AMD GAME! ensures consumers don’t need an
enthusiast-level knowledge of PC hardware for an optimal gaming
system,” said Nigel Dessau, senior vice president and chief
marketing officer, AMD. “We in the PC industry owe consumers the
same predictability, simplicity and affordability in finding a
PC for gaming that the console industry currently provides.”
According to Jon Peddie Research, of all
desktop and notebook PCs sold last year, two-thirds had only the
most basic of capabilities, lacking the technology needed to
drive a great gaming experience. AMD recognizes this and is
working to provide a consistent source of reliable and accurate
information before and at the point of purchase for gaming
consumers.
“AMD GAME! is a new initiative focused on
delivering a novel experience for consumers, addressing a
problem that has long existed in the PC industry until now,”
said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research in
Tiburon, California. “Our research has shown that PC gaming is
on the rise and this effort from AMD not only rallies industry
support for PC gaming but also acknowledges that computer gaming
needs balanced systems for the best consumer experience.”

cheapest price of any of the other DDR3 kits we've reviewed.
I'm still trying to find out what the catch is. Before I wake up or

Microsoft Withdraws Proposal to Acquire Yahoo!
REDMOND, Wash., May 3, 2008 — Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:
MSFT) today announced that it has withdrawn its proposal to
acquire Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO).
“We continue to believe that our proposed acquisition made
sense for Microsoft, Yahoo! and the market as a whole. Our goal
in pursuing a combination with Yahoo! was to provide greater
choice and innovation in the marketplace and create real value
for our respective stockholders and employees,” said Steve
Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft.
“Despite our best efforts, including raising our bid by
roughly $5 billion, Yahoo! has not moved toward accepting our
offer. After careful consideration, we believe the economics
demanded by Yahoo! do not make sense for us, and it is in the
best interests of Microsoft stockholders, employees and other
stakeholders to withdraw our proposal,” said Ballmer.

Trial Court
Finds for NVIDIA in 3dfx Bankruptcy Trial
SANTA CLARA, CA─MAY 2, 2008—NVIDIA
Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) today announced that the United
States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California
issued its Memorandum Decision After Trial (the "Decision") in
the 3dfx bankruptcy action. In the Decision, the Court found in
favor of NVIDIA on all issues and rejected the Trustee's
attempts to obtain damages from NVIDIA in excess of $100
million. The Trustee's lawsuit arose from NVIDIA's 2001
acquisition of certain assets of its former competitor, 3dfx
Interactive, Inc. Specifically, the Trustee claimed that NVIDIA
did not pay fair value for the assets it acquired in the
transaction, thereby allegedly harming 3dfx's creditors.
"A trial was necessary to fully demonstrate that we conducted
ourselves appropriately in the acquisition and we are very
pleased with the Decision from the Court. The Decision is
comprehensive, thorough, well-reasoned, and a complete rejection
of the Trustee's legal and factual arguments," said David
Shannon, NVIDIA's senior vice president and general counsel.
The Court expressly found that "the Trustee's valuation
theory--every way it is articulated--is simply not credible,"
and concluded that "the creditors of 3dfx were not injured by
the Transaction."
"We will continue to fight this matter through any and all
appeals," said Mr. Shannon.
